WHY YOU NEED BIOLOGY TUTORING

Many times, students believe Biology is all about memorization. However, this is the case. Yes, Biology has a strong memorization component, but it is the application of the principles that make this course difficult.

Students tend to do very well in the knowledge component of High School Biology.  Where many students seem to struggle in the Application and Thinking parts of the test.

At Zylor Education, our tutoring center located in Mississauga, we take an application approach to tutoring Biology.  Most students can read Biology textbooks and easily understand the concepts, unlike Physics or Math. When we tutor Biology, we teach students to look at what they have learnt, and how it applies to a given problem. For example, the unit on DNA would be related to the mRNA vaccine and how it is helping us fight COVID-19.

The central dogma of biology

The central dogma of biology states that DNA carries genetic instructions that are copied by RNA to produce proteins. In eukaryotic cells, replication and transcription occur within the nucleus, while translation occurs at the cell’s cytoplasm. Processed mRNA travels across the nuclear membrane allowing ribosomes to start the translation process.
